About the Role

Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking an experienced Production Stage Manager to join the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production.

The Production Stage Manager (PSM) serves as the primary show caller and operational leader for all performance-related activity, coordinating across artistic, technical, and management teams to ensure the show runs safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Blue Man Group’s creative standards. This individual manages the Stage Management department, supports company scheduling, and acts as the primary liaison between the Blue Men, Band, and Production teams on the road.

Key Responsibilities

Show Operations & Performance Management
  • Serve as the main show caller for performances.
  • Manage the stage during all aspects of the show—both during performance and between calls.
  • Conduct soundcheck and pre-show preparation, working through notes from the previous performance and coordinating with the Performers and technical departments.
  • Chair daily Circle Meetings and facilitate post-show notes sessions, ensuring relevant updates are distributed via show reports.
  • Observe performances in each venue, make detailed performance and technical notes, and communicate feedback to relevant departments.
  • Maintain and update the calling script, including territory-specific modifications.
  • Complete and distribute show reports after each performance, communicating with all technical departments to identify and resolve show-related issues.
  • Conduct front-of-house briefings at each venue, outlining show-specific cues and audience interaction guidelines.

Touring & Technical Coordination
  • Oversee Stage Management’s role in load-ins, loadouts, and packing of the Stage Management truck.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and Technical Direction team during load-ins to ensure proper scenic placement and operational flow.
  • Provide Stage Management support for press events, promotional gigs, and creative appearances, including show calling, props coordination, and staffing.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for the Performers throughout the tour.

Scheduling & Communication
  • Collaborate with the Company Manager, Production Manager and Blue Man Captain to prepare and distribute the weekly company schedule, including performances, rehearsals, press calls, and creative sessions.
  • Create and distribute daily calls for performers, including transport details where required, and communicate any updates to all relevant departments.
  • Coordinate performer coverage for sickness or injury in partnership with the Company Manager.

Safety
  • Champion and enforce all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety policies throughout all performances and backstage operations.
  • Ensure Stage Management maintains compliance with safety, emergency, and hazard protocols in coordination with the Production Manager and Technical Direction team.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of performers, crew, and audience members.

Administration & Budget Management
  • Collaborate with Production Manager to maintain the Stage Management and Props budgets, approving expenditures and overseeing Assistant Stage Manager ordering and stock levels.
  • Track and follow up on notes from prior show reports, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and communicated clearly.
  • Assist with documentation, payroll verification, and administrative tasks as needed.

Key Attributes
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
Intuitive, proactive, and calm under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Adaptable and flexible with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Passion for live performance and touring environments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Stage Management, Performing Arts, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional Stage Management experience in live entertainment or touring productions.
  • Proven ability to call complex, cue-heavy productions.
  • Strong understanding of theatrical and technical operations, including audio, lighting, video, and stage mechanics.
  • Proficient in scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
  • Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Oct 2026–Dec 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.
