We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to lead and manage a comprehensive citywide occupational health and safety program within the Office of Risk Management. This role involves high-level strategic planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and health programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and state-mandated standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in regulatory compliance, safety training program management, risk control strategies, and incident investigation. This is a key leadership role focused on cultivating a safety-first culture across diverse departments and operations.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Public Health, or related physical/biological sciences.
  • General Experience:
    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in personnel administration or industrial engineering, with at least one (1) year involving the investigation and evaluation of operational or industrial processes and related employee injuries from a safety perspective.
  • Specific Experience:
    At least one (1) year of full-time professional experience directly managing or administering an occupational safety program for a large or complex organization.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Professional safety certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP).

  • Strategic safety leaders with a passion for public service.
  • Effective communicators and collaborators across diverse operational teams.
  • Experienced in navigating complex organizational safety environments.
