HOUSEPERSON This is a hands-on, physically active position that works closely with Housekeeping and may also provide support to Engineering, Front Desk, and other hotel departments as needed. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys staying busy, and is always willing to jump in and help wherever needed. POSITION SUMMARY The Houseperson supports the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department and assists with maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel. Responsibilities include assisting Room Attendants, maintaining public areas, delivering guest amenities and requested items to guestrooms, assisting with hotel laundry, supporting Engineering with basic hotel needs, and setting up and breaking down meeting and event spaces. The Houseperson must be comfortable performing physical work throughout the shift and must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Housekeeping Support Support Room Attendants with daily housekeeping operations. Deliver and collect linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies. Assist with the distribution and collection of linen throughout the hotel. Remove trash and soiled linens from guestrooms and housekeeping areas. Assist with cleaning and maintaining housekeeping storage areas. Assist Room Attendants with special cleaning projects and high-occupancy needs. Assist with deep-cleaning projects as assigned. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Provide additional Housekeeping support wherever needed based on hotel occupancy and business levels. Public Area Cleaning Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of hotel public areas. Clean and maintain hallways, elevators, stairways, lobby areas, and other assigned spaces. Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and perform other cleaning duties as needed. Clean and maintain public restrooms. Empty trash and maintain trash collection areas. Respond promptly to spills and other cleanliness concerns. Help ensure the hotel maintains a clean, welcoming appearance throughout the day and evening. Guest Requests & Guest Service Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests. Deliver requested amenities, towels, blankets, pillows, and other approved items to guest rooms. Assist guests with basic requests within the scope of the position. Communicate guest concerns or requests requiring additional assistance to the appropriate department or manager. Maintain a friendly and professional attitude when interacting with guests. Protect guest privacy and belongings at all times. Represent the Courtyard Marriott brand and hotel professionally. Meeting & Event Support Set up meeting rooms and event spaces according to hotel specifications. Move and arrange tables and chairs safely and efficiently. Assist with room setups for meetings, social events, and other functions. Tear down meeting and event setups after functions are completed. Return tables, chairs, and other equipment to their proper storage locations. Clean meeting rooms and event spaces following events. Remove trash and leftover materials from meeting spaces. Assist with resetting meeting rooms for the next event. Work with the Front Desk, Sales, Housekeeping, and management teams to ensure meeting spaces are ready on time. Laundry Support Assist the Laundry Attendant with laundry operations as needed. Sort, wash, dry, fold, and organize hotel linens and towels when assigned. Transport clean and soiled linens throughout the hotel. Maintain an organized and clean laundry and linen storage area. Assist with maintaining appropriate linen levels throughout the hotel. Follow all hotel laundry, chemical handling, safety, and sanitation procedures. Engineering Support The Houseperson may assist the Engineering Department with basic hotel support duties as needed and within the scope of their training and responsibilities. Duties may include: Assist Engineering with moving or transporting materials and equipment. Assist with basic hotel maintenance projects and preventative maintenance tasks. Help prepare areas for maintenance work. Report maintenance issues identified in guestrooms, public areas, or back-of-house spaces. Assist with furniture or equipment movement. Help maintain clean and organized Engineering and storage areas. Immediately report safety hazards, equipment concerns, or maintenance issues to management or Engineering. Perform only those maintenance tasks for which the employee has been properly trained and authorized. Teamwork & Cross-Department Support Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Engineering, Sales, and other hotel departments. Assist other departments when business needs require additional support. Be willing to change priorities based on hotel occupancy, guest needs, meetings, events, and operational requirements. Maintain a positive and professional attitude. Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow team members. Help create a strong team environment by being willing to step in, help out, and get the job done. SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY This position requires flexibility in scheduling. The successful candidate must be available to work: Day shifts Evening shifts Weekends Holidays as needed Schedule changes based on hotel occupancy, meetings, events, and business needs Because hotel meetings, events, guest requests, and operational needs may occur at different times of the day, employees must be willing to work both day and evening shifts. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is a physically active position. The Houseperson must be able to: Lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Frequently stand and walk for extended periods. Push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment. Move tables, chairs, furniture, and other hotel equipment. Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs as needed. Safely handle linens, housekeeping supplies, and meeting-room equipment. Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift. Work indoors and, when necessary, assist with exterior hotel areas. QUALIFICATIONS Previous hotel, housekeeping, custodial, engineering, or hospitality experience preferred but not required. Reliable and dependable attendance. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Comfortable working in a fast-paced hotel environment. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Must have flexible availability for both day and evening shifts. Willingness to assist multiple departments and perform a variety of hotel support duties. technician.
