Energy Security Corporation (ESC) is seeking an accomplished Director, Investments to lead the structuring, negotiation and completion of complex energy and infrastructure transactions that support NSW's energy transition.

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, Investments, you will lead transactions from origination and assessment through due diligence, structuring, negotiation, legal and financial close. You will work across debt, equity and other capital solutions to progress investments in large-scale generation, energy storage, networks and enabling infrastructure.

 

Working closely with senior executives, project proponents, co-investors, financiers, government stakeholders and advisers, you will shape transaction strategy, resolve complex commercial issues and drive deals to completion.

 

You will provide expert commercial, financial and strategic advice to support investment decisions, manage risk and ensure ESC's capital is deployed effectively to accelerate priority projects in NSW and mobilise private investment.

 

This is a senior investment role requiring strong judgement, disciplined execution and the ability to negotiate successfully in complex, multi-party environments.

You are a senior investment professional with a demonstrated track record of leading, structuring, negotiating and completing capital transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

 

You bring deep experience investing debt and/or equity in large-scale generation, energy storage and infrastructure projects, together with the commercial judgement, execution discipline and stakeholder influence needed to take complex deals through to financial close.

 

You will bring:

 

  • A demonstrated track record of investing debt and/or equity in energy and infrastructure projects, with direct accountability for transaction outcomes.
  • Extensive experience leading transactions through origination, due diligence, investment approval, structuring, negotiation, documentation and financial close.
  • Strong capability in capital structuring, project finance, financial modelling, valuation, investment analysis, risk allocation and commercial due diligence.
  • Substantial experience in large-scale generation, energy storage and enabling infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial and financing arrangements with project sponsors, developers, investors, lenders, government and advisers.
  • Experience preparing clear investment recommendations and influencing decisions at Board and Executive levels.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead transaction teams and maintain momentum in complex, fast-paced deal environments.

Requirements

  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in energy and infrastructure investment, project finance, private capital, investment banking, development finance or a related transaction environment.
  • A demonstrated record of structuring and completing debt and/or equity investments in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced expertise in transaction management, financial modelling, investment analysis, valuation, due diligence and risk assessment.
  • Experience negotiating and completing complex legal and commercial documentation through to financial close.
  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, project development, regulatory frameworks and the commercial drivers of large-scale generation, storage and infrastructure projects.
