Senior Project Officer Accredited Assessor

Join the Planning, Offsets and Threatened Species (POTSE) Division and play a critical role in supporting biodiversity conservation outcomes across NSW. As a Senior Project Officer, Accredited Assessor, you will work directly with landholders and stakeholders to facilitate Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements, helping to protect and enhance the state's unique environmental assets.

This role supports the development and delivery of regional conservation programs through technical ecological expertise, stakeholder engagement, and project leadership. You will lead Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) field assessments, prepare Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports, contribute to operational policy and program development, and provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders. Working within a collaborative and geographically dispersed team, you'll have the opportunity to influence biodiversity conservation outcomes, build strong partnerships with landholders, and contribute to strategic environmental initiatives across NSW.

You are a passionate environmental professional with strong ecological assessment experience and a commitment to delivering practical conservation outcomes. You thrive in a field-based and stakeholder-focused environment, can balance competing priorities, and enjoy translating technical information into meaningful outcomes for diverse audiences.

• Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation and demonstrated experience undertaking ecological field surveys and specifically vegetation/botanical assessments.
• Sound knowledge of biodiversity conservation, environmental legislation, policy frameworks, and biodiversity offset programs.
• Experience preparing technical reports, assessments, management plans, and high-quality written correspondence.
• Proven project management capability, including planning, coordinating and delivering projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with landholders, government agencies, and industry partners.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ecological concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to shared conservation objectives.
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications, a current driver's licence, and the willingness to undertake regular field-based travel
