- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $ 109,102.00 to $ 120,542.00 + super
Our Delivery North EaTS team is currently seeking to appoint four Threatened Species Officers to assist in the effective and efficient delivery of regional threatened species programs.
The role supports delivery of regional threatened species programs by coordinating activities aligned with government priorities and implementing conservation initiatives such as Saving Our Species. It involves improving program effectiveness, engaging stakeholders and communities, contributing to environmental impact and licensing assessments, and providing advice on legislative and policy requirements to protect threatened species and habitats.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering regional threatened species conservation programs aligned with government strategies and priorities. You will contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives such as the Saving Our Species program, while continuously reviewing and improving conservation processes, tools, and policies to ensure they remain effective and responsive to evolving priorities.
The role also involves working closely with communities, stakeholders, and partners to drive education, collaboration, and recovery actions for threatened species. You will support the assessment of environmental impacts and development proposals to safeguard species and habitats and provide expert advice on legislative and corporate requirements to both internal teams and external clients.
This position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful conservation projects within a collaborative, purpose-driven team, engaging with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders across government, industry, and the community.
Requirements
~1 min read- A degree in Science or in a relevant natural resource discipline
- A valid Australian driver’s licence, with four-wheel drive experience and training preferable
- Willingness to travel in a light aircraft

Threatened Species Officer
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) works to protect the state’s environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change, driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy, powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.
DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
