The Crew Leader provides lead worker assistance and direction for a medium to large crew or to a number of medium to large multi-disciplined crews which may include performing difficult and complex tasks for various maintenance works throughout the City of Dallas. Leads, supports, coordinates, and directs crews in the performance of various tasks, supports maintenance operations, and routine to unique repair projects.

The Crew Leader serves as a lead for a crew of workers and provides training for crews in construction, sanitation, facilities, parks and recreational centers, water management departments, aviation, and other City of Dallas infrastructure, supporting large or complex projects, coordinating assignments, reports, equipment, and inventory.

✓Ability to control speed and direction of moderately complex motorized equipment.
✓Knowledge of and ability to maneuver numerous types of equipment and perform labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
✓Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, read charts, and maintain written records.
✓Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant awareness and attention to detail of safety guidelines.
✓Knowledge of operations, research, and resource planning and ability to facilitate success of crews performing work throughout the City.
✓Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, keep written records, place orders, and prepare reports.
✓Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
✓Skill to lead and manage personnel.

High School Diploma or GED.

Four (4) years of experience working with variety of machines and equipment in a large municipality or complex infrastructure, performing general labor in various trades is required. Experience in supervising or leading a crew is highly preferred.

  • Commercial Driver’s License Class A with good driving record for Forestry, Code Compliance, Parks, Public Works, Traffic Signals, Water Distribution, Water Quality and DWU Stormwater.

  • Class B Driver’s License with good driving record for Facilities, Landscape, Maintenance, Wastewater Collection and Sanitation.

  • Movement Area Certification for Aviation is required.

  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) License for DWU may be required.

  • Other leadership certifications or endorsements highly preferred.

  • Applicants with a Class A or B CDL issued by a state other than Texas, must obtain a Texas State Class A or B CDL within the probationary period.

Salary Range

 

$53,809.60 - $62,483.20


 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.

City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience and ten (10) years of combined education will fulfill the education and experience requirement.

  • For the divisions with the Commercial Driver License A requirement, in the absence of the CDL A, applicants with the CDL B will be considered with a condition to obtain CDL A within the probationary period.
