As the Operations and Plant Administrator, you will oversee all daily operations of the plant—from managing production, manufacturing, installation, and project management, to inventory, logistics and compliance—ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The Operations and Plant Administrator will support bookkeeping duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cheque runs, vendor communication, data entry and various other duties to support the finance team. The role focuses on maximizing efficiency, safety, quality, and productivity while maintaining high standards of teamwork and accountability for the new facility.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Plan and organize daily plant operations to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- →Ensure production and delivery are completed on time
- →Work alongside, Engineering team, Quality and Production team maintaining product quality standards.
- →Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Engineering, Production, and Accounting — to ensure smooth coordination of plant activities.
- →Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment across all plant areas.
- →Monitor daily performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
- →Ensure all QA and regulatory standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.) are met.
- →Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
- →Supervise shipping and receiving activities, ensuring proper documentation and timely dispatch.
- →Maintain accurate inventory levels and oversee reconciliation of materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- →Complete tasks pertaining to bookkeeping as requested by the Accounting and Finance team.
- Enforce all health, safety, and environmental regulations in accordance with company and legal standards.
- Conduct safety inspections and participate in audits to ensure full compliance.
- Ensure all team members complete required safety and WHMIS training.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly, and participate in corrective action planning.
- Supervise production staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Train, coach, and motivate team members to ensure accountability and high performance.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, and respect across all levels of the operation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and workflow management.
- Knowledge of inventory control, shipping/receiving, and material handling procedures
- Familiarity with QA, HACCP, GMP, and/or quality systems.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and ability to enforce safe work practices.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using MS Office, ERP systems, and production tracking tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Diploma or degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in plant or production supervision (preferably in food or manufacturing industries).
- Previous experience in team supervision, scheduling, and performance management.
- Certifications in WHMIS, HACCP, OSHA, or Continuous Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) are assets.
- Strong record of maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Forklift certificate and in good standing.
The expected annual salary range for this position is $54,000 to $76,000, with final compensation determined based on skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.
