- Dates: July 13 – August 6
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8am-3:30pm
- Compensation: $40 per hour
- Location: Trenton, NJ
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Deliver targeted small group instruction to groups of 5 to 10 scholars in literacy and or math
- →Focus on foundational skill development including literacy such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing, and math such as number sense, operations, and problem solving
- →Use diagnostic and progress monitoring data such as iReady or internal assessments to plan and adjust instruction
- → Implement aligned lessons and intervention materials provided by the academic team
- → Track and monitor scholar progress daily and weekly
- → Create a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment
- →Build strong relationships with scholars to increase motivation and confidence
- →Collaborate with Summer Academy staff to ensure alignment and consistency
- → Uphold school wide expectations for culture, routines, and behavior
- Deliver instruction that is standards aligned, objective driven, and responsive to student data
- Use high leverage instructional strategies including explicit modeling and guided practice, frequent checks for understanding, and immediate feedback and error correction
- Ensure all lessons are aligned to the Standard Objective Assessment framework
Requirements
~1 min read- NJ Certification required
- Current teacher preferred or experience working with grades 6-12
- Strong understanding of foundational literacy and or math instruction
- Experience with small group or intervention instruction
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
- Strong classroom management and relationship building skills
- Commitment to educational equity and high expectations for all scholars
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience with structured literacy or Science of Reading practices
- Familiarity with intervention programs and tools
- Demonstrated success in accelerating student achievement
This is a temporary summer position. Interventionists will receive all necessary curriculum and materials. Training and onboarding will be provided prior to program launch.
Strong performance may lead to future instructional or leadership opportunities within the network.
Summer Academy is designed to solidify critical skills rather than introduce a large volume of new content. Interventionists play a key role in ensuring scholars return in the fall with stronger foundations, increased confidence, and readiness to succeed.
