Who are we looking for?   

We are seeking a Linear Infrastructure Site Inspector to be based in one of our Toronto area offices with diversified experience in site inspection and administration activities for linear Infrastructure (sewers & water systems) projects including traditional open cut, trenchless, and sewer & water rehabilitation.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: 

  • Working safely and in conformance with GHD’s Behaviour-Based Safety culture
  • Verifying that construction work complies with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Measuring and documenting quantities of work completed to support progress payment certification
  • Preparing clear and consistent daily inspection reports
  • Identifying, documenting, and tracking construction deficiencies through to resolution
  • Completing day-to-day inspections and checklists for water or wastewater linear projects including open-cut, trenchless, sewer, and water applications
  • Monitoring Contractor work for compliance with contract requirements
  • Maintaining project records including diary entries and collecting as-built information
  • Recording and monitoring contractor progress against the project schedule
  • Making payment recommendations to Contract Administrator
  • Monitoring contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation
  • Taking action, in consultation with Contract Administrator and in accordance with contract requirements, when non-conformances are observed.
  • Identifying and making recommendations to proactively resolve emerging project issues.
  • Coordinating contractor’s work activities with the client, approval authorities, and utility providers
  • Coordinating material testing and supporting commissioning activities
  • Coordinating and expediting contractor documentation including shop drawings, work plans, and test reports
  • Collaborating with residents and local property owners to record and resolve field-level issues.
  • Completing required training including First Aid and Working at Heights.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working nights, weekends, and overtime hours as necessary
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering or related discipline. CET designation, PEO EIT or P.Eng. designation, or equivalent is an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in linear underground and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience providing onsite inspection services of linear and transportation municipal infrastructure projects, providing material testing, and assessing relevant codes, standards and regulatory guidelines
  • City of Toronto experience is an asset.
  • Valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license and a vehicle
  • Strong teamwork ability with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Experience in the design of sewer & water main work
  • Builterra, AutoCAD, MS Project, and Primavera P6 experience is an asset.

* The salary range for this position is $33/Hour - $49/Hour.  The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
