WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND RISK MANAGEMENT

We're looking for a knowledgeable leader who brings:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Five years of municipal HR management experience

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Human Resources certification
  • Experience with payroll laws and regulations
  • Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain one

DAY-TO-DAY

As our Director of Human Resources and Risk Management, your day will be a dynamic blend of strategy, leadership, and problem-solving. You'll partner with hiring managers to recruit and onboard exceptional talent, guide leaders through complex employee relations matters, collaborate with the City Attorney on compliance and workplace concerns, oversee compensation programs and annual pay plans, manage benefits and retirement offerings, supervise HR staff, develop departmental budgets and priorities, and ensure policies remain aligned with ever-changing regulations. Throughout the day, you'll balance the people side of the organization with the operational side by directing risk management programs involving workers' compensation, safety, liability, and loss prevention while also preparing reports, presentations, budget forecasts, and recommendations for leadership and City Council. Every decision you make helps strengthen the workforce that keeps Haltom City moving forward.
