Position Overview

The SolidWorks Engineering Specialist is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and product designs using SolidWorks and other CAD software.

This role supports engineering and manufacturing teams by producing accurate production drawings, assembly designs, and technical documentation used in product development and manufacturing processes.

The position requires strong technical drafting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with project specifications.

Core Responsibilities
CAD Design & Drafting
Develop accurate technical drawings and product designs that support engineering and manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities include:
Creating detailed CAD drawings for parts, assemblies, and engineering projects
Developing multi-view technical drawings that clearly communicate product specifications
Producing and revising production drawings, including detail and assembly drawings
Updating existing drawings and design files based on engineering revisions
Ensuring drawings meet engineering standards, tolerances, and design specifications

Design Verification & Accuracy
Maintain high levels of accuracy in all engineering documentation.
Responsibilities include:
Reviewing drawing details such as dimensions, tolerances, angles, and material specifications
Verifying component designs against engineering requirements to ensure proper fit and function
Identifying errors or inconsistencies in drawings and making necessary corrections
Submitting revised drawings for review by engineering leadership

Engineering Collaboration
Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product development and production.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing teams regarding new or revised designs
Supporting product development by preparing accurate design documentation
Assisting with revisions or updates required during engineering change processes

Drawing Management & Documentation
Maintain organized design documentation to support engineering and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining an organized digital file system for design and production drawings
Managing version control and revisions for engineering documentation
Ensuring drawings are properly archived and accessible for future reference

Education, Experience & Skills
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Design, Graphic Arts, or a related technical field
3–5 years of experience in drafting and design using CAD systems
Strong experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms
Familiarity with additional design software or CAD tools is a plus
Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and drafting principles
Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and manufacturing documentation
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Standard office software and collaboration tools
Experience with additional CAD systems or design tools is considered an advantage.
