The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 38 years. Today we are one of the largest business schools in the country and off degree programmes in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 12 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

Primary Responsibility         

Overseeing the entire QA function, setting QA standards and processes, resource planning, budgeting, stakeholder management, and driving continuous improvement. Leads the Quality Assurance Department toward intended quality objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the university’s Quality Assurance framework, policies, and standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of academic programs, administrative processes, and operational functions.
  • Coordinate risk management processes, including the identification and mitigation of risks.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to departments for maintaining Quality Assurance standards.
  • Compile and present Quality Assurance reports to the University Council and relevant committees, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards, including DHERST requirements.
  • Facilitate the use of data-driven decision-making to inform policy adjustments and improvements.
  • Facilitating the Quality Certifications such as ISO 9001

 

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
  • Professional Qualification in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Compliance, or any other relevant field, leading to membership with CPA PNG.
  • Minimum Five Years Post Qualifying Experience in Risk Management, Auditing, Compliance, Education Administration, or any similar relevant field.
  • Previous engagement in Quality Frameworks such as ISO will be an added benefit.
