Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and direct supervision of the relevant Project Officers, the Intern will support the implementation and coordination of programme activities implemented by IOM Comoros.
The internship aims at providing practical experience in programme implementation, coordination, reporting and administrative support within a United Nations environment.

- Gain practical experience in programme implementation and coordination within a UN environment;
- Develop skills in drafting reports, meeting minutes and presentations;
- Gain exposure to project monitoring, reporting and stakeholder coordination;
- Strengthen organizational, communication and teamwork skills;
- Gain understanding of migration and development programming in the Comoros context.
- The Intern will gain experience working in an international and multicultural environment within the United Nations system;
- Gain exposure to IOM programmes and operations related to migration governance and development;
- Learn about programme implementation, coordination and reporting processes;
- Participate in meetings, workshops and programme activities;
- Access online trainings and learning resources available to IOM personnel.
Requirements

a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Preferred fields of study include International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management or related fields.
- Previous internship, volunteer or academic experience related to programme support, administration, humanitarian or development work is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Good organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and within a team;
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
For this internship, Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of Shikomori is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Responsibilities
~2 min readDepending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
