Position Overview


The People and Culture Business Partner is a trusted advisor and strategic partner to portfolio managers and team members, responsible for delivering high‑quality, generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle.

Operating in a relationship‑focused Business Partner model, the People and Culture Business Partner works closely with leaders to understand their operational context, anticipate people needs, and deliver pragmatic, value‑adding HR solutions that enable performance, engagement and wellbeing.

The role combines strong operational HR delivery with contribution to broader People and Culture strategies and projects. The People and Culture Business Partner will also play an active role in learning and development, including the design, development and delivery of internal capability‑building and training programs aligned to organisational priorities.

A demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, working within the not‑for‑profit sector and supporting purpose‑driven work is central to the role.


Key Responsibilities Include


  • Act as a trusted HR Business Partner to assigned portfolios, building strong, constructive relationships with managers and team members.
  • Provide pragmatic, solutions‑focused advice that supports leaders to meet their people, cultural and operational objectives.
  • Influence and coach leaders at all levels to strengthen people management capability and decision‑making.
  • Provide generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including
  • Identify learning and capability needs in partnership with leaders.
  • Design, develop and deliver internal training programs, workshops and learning initiatives (e.g. leadership, performance management, wellbeing, policy and compliance topics).
  • Manage employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion and empathy.
  • Support managers to meet WHS obligations, including managing psychosocial risks.
  • Lead and/or support People and Culture projects and initiatives as agreed with the GM People, Capability, Culture and Wellbeing. 


To be considered, you must demonstrate:


Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Current AHRI membership (membership will be covered by the LIV).
  • AHRI Certification (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and related employment legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, passion and commitment to working in the not‑for‑profit sector (preferred).


Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR or HR Business Partner role.
  • Broad generalist experience across recruitment, employee relations, performance management and learning and development.
  • Experience in delivering and maintaining effective HR services and systems to meet organisational and compliance needs.
