Patient Registration Associate - PRN

Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.

The Patient Registration Associate will provide an excellent patient experience to all patients and visitors via phone and in person. This position is responsible for maintaining patient flow, scheduling appointments, directs phone calls appropriately, handles messages, registers hospital and clinic patients and collects time of service copays. Being a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by clinical and service staff, this position must work collaboratively with all staff in support of the patient's service promoting patient comfort and trust.

1. Education:
   1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of medical terminology required or the completion of a medical terminology course in the first year of employment.
2. Experience:
   1. Six months of office experience, preferably in ambulatory setting such as a medical office.
   2. Typing/Computer experience is preferred.
3. Special Skills & Aptitudes:
   1. The ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people is required.
   2. Detail oriented, ability to multi task and able to organize work with frequent interruptions.
   3. The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
   4. Ability to work with people in a courteous manner
   5. Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
   6. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status, if applicable.
