POSITION DUTIES
\r\n\r\nThe main purpose of this\r\nposition is to assist the Director of the Commitment Records Unit by\r\nidentifying, analyzing and resolving administrative, managerial and operational\r\nday to day office procedures and concerns. Act as the liaison between DPDS and\r\ncriminal justice agencies on documentation, operational procedure, policies\r\nthat may affect the security and public safety mission of the Division of\r\nPretrial Detention and Services.\r\n\r\n\r\nAssist the Director in\r\nestablishing policies, goals and objectives for the central records unit.\r\n\r\n\r\nServes as the liaison between\r\nthe DPDS and federal, state, county and municipal police departments, sheriff\r\noffices, correctional facilities, parole and probation agencies, correctional\r\ninstitutions, detention centers.\r\n\r\n\r\nAssist in planning, directing\r\nand evaluating the daily operations of the Central Records Office which include\r\nthe following:\r\n● Entering data into the\r\nOffender Case Management System (OCMS) computer system;\r\n● Processing pretrial, mental\r\nhealth, sentenced and federal Incarcerated Individual commitments;\r\n● Processing writ, detainers,\r\nwarrants, indictments, commitment and added charge documents;\r\n● Processing subpoenas;\r\nProcessing of extradition, bail release and other court orders;\r\n● Conducting warrant checks via\r\nNCIC, MILES, JIS and CHASE; Processing hit confirmations;\r\n● Computing sentence diminution\r\ncredits and release dates; Preparing Incarcerated Individual records for bail\r\nreview, trial and other court proceedings;\r\n● Preparing Incarcerated\r\nIndividual records for transfer to other correctional and law enforcement\r\njurisdictions;\r\n● Maintaining active and\r\ninactive Incarcerated Individual records; Verifying Incarcerated Individual\r\nrecords; Resolving discrepancies in Incarcerated Individual commitment and\r\ncriminal history data;\r\n● Microfilming and\r\nrepositioning Incarcerated Individual records;\r\n● Disseminating criminal\r\nhistory information to the public and to criminal justice agencies; Identifying\r\nIncarcerated Individuals for parole hearings and sentence commutations;\r\n● Producing and disseminating\r\npopulation reports and statistical data; and, a range of other records keeping\r\nand data processing activities.�\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an\r\naccredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: Six years of\r\nadministrative staff or professional work.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30\r\ncollege credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up\r\nto four years of the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and\r\ntwo years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the\r\nrequired experience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for\r\nthe required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S.\r\nArmed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving\r\nstaff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy,\r\nprocedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or\r\nfunctioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a\r\nyear-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•���������� 5 years of experience reviewing,\r\nverifying, and interpreting WRITS, Court Orders, Sentence Commitments, Court\r\nand/or Immigration Detainers, court releases, court transfer orders, and\r\nintake/bail review summaries to determine and resolve issues involving the\r\ncalculation of prison sentences in accordance with applicable laws, and the\r\nregulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional\r\nServices.\r\n•� � � � � �3�years of experience supervising\r\nCommitment Records Specialist Staff\r\n

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
