Introduction

The Maryland Food Center Authority (MFCA) is a public instrumentality of the State. The MFCA mission is to develop, own, operate, improve, and maintain real estate projects that provide economical, sanitary and modern facilities for food distribution in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe MFCA operates the Maryland Wholesale Produce Market and the Maryland Market Center, and the Rock Hall Clam House.\r\nOperations of the Authority are funded by entrance and registration fees, service fees, and rental income generated from the operation of its Produce Market and Maryland Market Center.\r\nThe MFCA’s employees are not included in the Maryland State Personnel Management System and are instead governed by the independent policies and procedures of the MFCA. GRADE

Salary range is $130,000 - $190,000\r\n

LOCATION OF POSITION

This position is located at the MFCA Administration building at 7801 Oceano Avenue, Jessup, MD 20794, with the possibility of hybrid teleworking arrangements.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

\r\nThis position is a senior leadership role which reports to\r\nthe MFCA Executive Director. The Director of Real Estate will modernize and\r\noptimize the Authority’s real estate function, including the planning,\r\norganizing, and directing of all leasing, property acquisition, and property\r\ndisposition activities. \r\nThis role will also design and implement standard operating\r\nprocedures and compliance protocols to ensure a consistent, transparent, and\r\nstrategic approach to real estate management and deliver on the Authority’s\r\nmission to provide economical, sanitary, and modern facilities for food\r\ndistribution in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDuties include but are not limited to:\r\n-������ Updating\r\nand implementing standardized tenant selection and vetting processes, including\r\napplication review and evaluation criteria.\r\n-������ Managing\r\nlease construction and compliance through robust processes to ensure adherence\r\nto lease terms across the portfolio. �\r\n-������ Negotiating\r\nand overseeing lease agreements and strategic real estate transactions,\r\nincluding long‑term portfolio strategy and risk assessment.\r\n-������ Analyzing\r\nand providing recommendations on potential property acquisitions or sales, land\r\nleases, or other transactions.\r\n-������ Coordinating\r\nclosely with the Executive Director on lease reviews and approvals through the Maryland\r\nBoard of Public Works.\r\n-������ Partnering\r\nwith the Director of Market Operations to ensure facilities, policies, and\r\npractices meet Authority goals and tenant needs.� �\r\n-������ Collaborating\r\nwith Director of Finance and other leaders on lease accounting, capital\r\nplanning initiatives, budget forecasting, and long‑range real estate investment\r\nplanning. \r\n-������ Serving\r\nas a key advisor to the leadership team on real estate policy, regulatory\r\nconsiderations, and market trends, ensuring decisions are data‑driven and\r\naligned with Authority objectives.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n� Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\r\n\r\n\r\n� Master’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Economics, or related fields.��\r\n\r\n\r\n� At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience as a senior-level manager of commercial or government real estate operations, to include experience in lease negotiation and management, land acquisition and development, real estate strategy, and capital planning.��\r\n\r\n\r\n� Familiarity with multitenant warehouse properties.��\r\n\r\n\r\n� Experience with real estate valuation and appraisal.�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Understanding of zoning, land use, and permitting in Maryland.��\r\n\r\n\r\n� Demonstrated experience working with government leasing processes, approvals, and compliance requirements.\r\n\r\n\r\n� Project management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and/or property management certifications such as Certified Property Manager (CPM).�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Functional knowledge of Spanish.\r\n\r\n\r\n
