POSITION DUTIES
**APPLICANT MUST HAVE THEIR PEER CERTIFICATION PRIOR TO BEING HIRED**\r\n\r\n\r\nA Peer Recovery Specialist II\r\nprovides peer recovery support to clients diagnosed with or identified as\r\nhaving a substance use disorder, mental health disorder, or co-occurring\r\ndisorder. This position supports clients throughout their recovery process and\r\nencourages them to take empowering actions in order to regain control over\r\ntheir lives and recovery. A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) II\r\npromotes healthy behaviors among their clients by disseminating substance use,\r\nmental health recovery, and community resources including housing, employment,\r\neducation, transportation, recreation, health, religious/spiritual, and other\r\nresources.\r\n�\r\nProvides peer recovery support\r\nto clients diagnosed with or identified as having a substance use disorder,\r\nmental health disorder, or co-occurring disorder by conducting the following\r\nmonthly: education, training, and support sessions to 5 or more previously\r\nincarcerated CPRS Labor program participants, one-on-one peer support sessions\r\nto 10 or more participants, and 2 or more group support sessions. Complete the\r\nfollowing support groups: overdose education, NARCAN and Fentanyl test strip\r\ntraining.��\r\n�\r\nBuild relationships with\r\ncommunity providers and make referrals for substance use disorder screening,\r\nassessment, treatment and other re-entry support services to include housing,\r\nemployment, education, transportation, recreation, health, religious/spiritual,\r\nand other resources.�\r\n�\r\nBuild relationships with\r\ncommunity providers and make referrals for substance use disorder screening,\r\nassessment, treatment and other re-entry support services to include housing,\r\nemployment, education, transportation, recreation, health, religious/spiritual,\r\nand other resources.\r\n�\r\nWork collaboratively with and\r\nrefer participants to the Labor Re-entry Navigators at the local American Job\r\nCenters to find employment, housing, and other support services.\r\n�\r\nMeets with clinical staff, their\r\ndirect supervisor, their field supervisor in the parole and probation office,\r\nother parole and probation staff and other staff to collaborate and coordinate\r\nservices provided.\r\n�\r\nPrepares reports and documents\r\nfor the services provided to the Division of Parole and Probation Agents.\r\nComplete all \r\nrequired reports and\r\ndocumentation to comply with the OOCC grant.\r\n�\r\nTravel within the county to\r\nprovide services. Travel outside your county to connect with the RPS, the other\r\nCPRSs, and to connect to others supporting CPRS services.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high�school equivalency�certificate.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:� One year of experience providing peer recovery support services.\r\n\r\n\r\nNote:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience as a non-commissioned officer in Peer Specialist�classifications or Peer Specialist and specialty codes in the health-related field of work for the required experience.�\r\n\r\n\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current�certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 12 months from date of�hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB) located at 10807 Falls Rd., #1376, Brooklandville, MD 21022.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the�operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required�to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1.�Employees in this classification who fail to obtain the required certification by the end of 24 months of continuous employment with the hiring department shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension and dismissal.\r\n2.�Applicants for this classification must be in a state of recovery for 2 years from�a substance use, mental health or co-occurring disorder before they can be�qualified to be hired as a Peer Recovery Specialist, Certified. � \r\n3.�Employees in this classification must complete any additional training that is�deemed necessary and appropriate maintain required certification. � \r\n4. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing, in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use�of Drugs.��\r\n

BENEFITS
\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n
