POSITION DUTIES
\r\nThe main purpose of this position is to provide the full range of social work services to incarcerated individuals housed at the assigned DPSCS facility, and provide services to the assigned regional institutions as needed.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSocial Work Services:\r\n\r\n\r\n Provides clinical and case management services which include the development of comprehensive re-entry plans for special needs incarcerated individuals;\r\n Provides individual intervention for crisis intervention and/or problem-solving as assigned;\r\n Provides on-going individual therapy as assigned and resources permit;\r\n Provides assessments for PREA screening and follow-up, for eligibility for domestic violence group treatment and for release planning services;\r\n Conducts therapeutic/didactic groups with a cognitive-behavioral theory base to the general population;\r\n Presents at clinical staff meetings when scheduled.\r\n\r\n\r\nRelated Administrative Duties:\r\n\r\n\r\n Maintains and completes monthly reports, statistics, case notes and appropriate records on all services provided;\r\n Participates in institutional, regional and divisional staff meetings;\r\n Serves on special task forces and work groups as assigned by supervisor;\r\n Completes special projects or tasks as assigned.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please read all requirements before applying.\r\nPSCS Social Worker I, Criminal Justice\r\nEducation:�Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.\r\nExperience:�None.\r\n\r\n\r\nPSCS Social Worker II, Criminal Justice\r\nEducation:�Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.\r\nExperience:�Two years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic social work services through the application of the principles, methods and procedures of professional social work to clients requiring rehabilitative counseling.\r\nNote:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology or Welfare fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1.�Employees are required to be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (on or before June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker (on or after July 1, 2018) to meet criteria for SWI.� Employees must be licensed at the Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position as SWII.� Applicants who do not have a license may apply pending receipt of the required license but cannot be offered a position until licensed.� When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the hiring department.\r\n�\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which\r\nrequire the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will\r\nbe required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of\r\nMaryland.\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees are required to\r\nmeet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the hiring\r\ndepartment. Employees who fail to obtain the required continuing education\r\ncredits shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension\r\nand dismissal.\r\n�\r\n2. Employees�must complete\r\nan approved training program in group counseling techniques.\r\n�\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Employees�are required\r\nto qualify for and successfully complete the Entry Level Training Academy\r\noperated by the Police and Correctional Training Commissions.\r\n
