POSITION DUTIES
The Comptroller of Maryland seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as a Regional Manager within the Taxpayer Services Division.\r\n\r\n\r\n�This leadership role oversees the operations of the Baltimore City, Bel Air, and Windsor Mill branch offices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality taxpayer services and compliance with State tax laws.�\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Regional Manager provides direct support to branch office managers, coordinates operational needs, and promotes consistency, efficiency, and accountability across the locations.�\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Revenue Administrator V supervises, directs, and reviews the work of three branch offices, providing training, guidance, resources and oversight needed to support daily operations. This position ensures adherence to tax laws and agency policies, monitors workflow, and upholds strong internal controls. The role reports to the Section Manager of Branch Operations.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position is considered one of the agency’s emergency essential personnel and is to ensure that the branch offices assigned are adequately staffed during normal work hours and is available during emergency situations.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPlease Note:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require operation of a personal motor vehicle. Employee assigned such duties will be required to possess driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n Evening and weekend work may be required especially during peak times of the year.\r\n Employee must be able to tolerate an occasional uncomfortable or unpleasant experience presented by upset or irate taxpayers.\r\n Work may involve special physical demands such as lifting 25 to 35 pounds, climbing ladders, delivering supplies, etc.\r\n Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for private accounting companies.\r\n Leave may be limited during certain times of the year due to high volume events, projects or special assignments.\r\n The position is considered one of the agency's emergency essential personnel.\r\n This position is not eligible for telework.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: Six years of professional work experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management, or customer service. Three years of this professional work experience must have involved supervising professional revenue administrators, accountants, or auditors, or providing legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax attorney, or having been in a responsible administrative or management capacity.\r\nNotes:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Candidates may substitute the possession of an associates degree for two years of the required experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management, or customer service.\r\n Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for three years of auditing, accounting, general management, and customer service experience.\r\n Candidates may substitute 30 college credits from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience up to three years of experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management, or customer service.\r\n Candidates may substitute graduate education in an academic field related to the required experience from an accredited college or university for the experience.\r\n Candidates may substitute the possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License for the required experience.\r\n Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the tax examining field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n Prior supervisory / management experience.\r\n Proven experience with optimizing organizational structure, evaluating staffing needs, and managing�teams and operations across multiple remote locations.\r\n Experience with adapting to changing priorities.\r\n Experience with personal computer and software applications.\r\n Knowledge and experience in Federal & Maryland tax laws and forms.\r\n Communication skills.
