What we do. Electric Car Leasing

Why we do it. Greener. Fairer. Future.

We’re looking for a sharp, commercially-minded generalist to help us scale our consumer electric vehicle leasing business. You’ll sit at the heart of our Consumer team, acting as the bridge between our ambitious growth goals and our regulatory responsibilities as an FCA regulated business.

This isn't a "back-office" compliance role. You’ll be a key operator who ensures our products are customer-centric, our processes are slick, and our growth is sustainable.

You’ll work with teams (Sales, Product, Ops) who are experts in their fields but often new to Financial Services; your job is to translate the "why" behind the rules and help them build better products because of them.

  • Commercial Guardrails: Own the "rules of the game" for our consumer products. You’ll ensure our contracts (Consumer Hire Agreements) and T&Cs are current, compliant, clear, and commercially sound.

  • Problem Solving: Tackle "edge case" customer issues and business incidents. You won't just fix the immediate problem; you’ll build the automation or process to ensure it doesn't happen again.

  • Internal Consultant: Act as the first point of contact for the business on FCA-related questions. You’ll help Marketing with promotional approvals and Sales with "how-to" guidance for complex customer journeys.

  • Product Evolution: Work with Legal and Product teams to launch new features, ensuring we follow a "product governance" path that is fast but compliant.

  • Background: Experience in a Fintech, financial services startup, or a fast-scaling regulated business in a similar role. You have played a key role in launching or growing new products in a regulated context.

  • Mindset: You want to play a part in the transition to zero-carbon driving. You don’t just identify problems that are to be solved, you solve them too either yourself or working with wider team

This is an individual contributor role, reporting into the Head of Consumer.

  • FCA regulated experience: You have experience working within a UK-regulated consumer finance environment. Ideally a fintech business. You understand the principles (like Consumer Duty, Treating Customers Fairly etc) without getting lost in the weeds.

  • A generalist: You are comfortable jumping from a legal contract review to a data-heavy reporting or analysis task, then into a training session for the sales team.

  • Tech-first approach: Whilst not a developer, you default to tech based solutions, automations and AI workflows, rather than manual processes.

  • Commercial and pragmatic: You view regulation as a framework for building trust and quality whilst making progress at pace. You find ways to say "yes, if..."

  • Effective communicator: You can distill complex rules and principles into simple instructions or operating procedures for people new to financial services.

  • Bias to action: You thrive in a fast-paced scale-up environment with a strong bias to action.

  • 💰 Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
