ONE is a global, nonpartisan organization fighting for a more just world by demanding the investments needed to create economic opportunities and healthier lives in Africa. We do this by deploying trusted and dynamic advocacy that leverages hard-hitting data, credible grassroots activism, creative political engagement, and strategic partnerships. We use all this to influence decision-makers to take action and tackle the world’s biggest challenges. Read more at www.one.org.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Content Producer will help ONE advance its advocacy and policy objectives by producing compelling multi-platform content (audio, including podcasts, as well as video and digital) that moves North American audiences from awareness to action. The role sits at the heart of how ONE tells its story across the United States and Canada, and is grounded in ONE's movement-building approach: content that first informs and then mobilizes, carrying audiences along the engagement spectrum toward active support.

Working under the direction of the Director of Communications, North America, the Content Producer will partner closely with the team's social media, design, and digital communications staff to ensure content is consistent, on-message, and maximizes the value of every asset across platforms. They will produce content tailored to the distinct needs of U.S. and Canadian audiences and to the diaspora communities central to ONE's work, and will coordinate with ONE's global communications colleagues as appropriate.

This is a hands-on production role for a strong individual contributor. It is well suited to a producer who wants to apply real craft to mission-driven work and to grow within an advocacy communications environment.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Develop and produce multi-platform content end to end (concept, scripting, recording, editing, and packaging) across audio, video, and digital formats, including podcasts and short-form social clips.
  • Develop and produce podcast and audio content that advances ONE's North America priorities, from format and segment design through recording, editing, and distribution.
  • Translate complex policy and advocacy issues into clear, compelling, audience-ready content that drives action, not only awareness.
  • Work closely with social media, design, and digital staff to repurpose and adapt content across channels, ensuring message consistency and maximizing the value of each production.
  • Tailor content for U.S. and Canadian audiences ONE engages, adapting tone, framing, and platform accordingly.
  • Support the editorial development of content, including topic and guest input, narrative framing, and constructive editorial feedback.
  • Manage production logistics and quality, including recording setup and equipment, scheduling, and post-production standards.
  • Track content performance and apply the learnings to improve reach and engagement.
  • Contribute to ONE's global communications community of practice, sharing and adapting best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications, North America.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, film or media production, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on multi-platform content production experience (audio and podcast, video, and digital), including ownership of productions from concept through distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience producing content for advocacy, campaigning, nonprofit, public affairs, or other mission-driven contexts, or a clear and demonstrable ability to apply production skills to advocacy content that moves audiences to act.
  • Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to turn complex issues into accessible, persuasive content.
  • Familiarity with North American audiences, including an understanding of the differences between the U.S. and Canadian contexts. Experience with, or awareness of, diaspora audiences is an asset.
  • Proficiency across the production toolkit (audio and video editing, recording platforms such as Riverside, and basic design and asset creation).
  • A working understanding of the links between content, advocacy, and measurable action.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Excellent time management, forward-planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple shifting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative and distributed team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to live and work in the United States, and legal authority to travel between Canada and the U.S. as needed.

OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Related work history in, or demonstrable interest in, Africa and the issues ONE supports is an asset.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical, action-oriented, and results focused.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Remains positive in high-pressure and fast-moving situations.
  • Consistent application of good judgment and the ability to make responsible decisions.
