PNG Air is seeking an experienced Maintenance Watch Engineer to join its Airline Technical team based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The Maintenance Watch Engineer will be responsible for coordinating Aircraft on Ground (AOG) recovery and acting as a key communication link between CAMG, MRO, Flight Operations and Ground Operations. The role will support the safe and efficient operation of the fleet through effective monitoring, technical coordination and timely communication. Maintenance Watch Engineer Key responsibilities include: Coordinate AOG aircraft recovery and provide regular operational updates. Liaise with CAMG, MRO, Flight Operations and Ground Operations regarding aircraft availability. Monitor and communicate aircraft defects, MELs and technical limitations. Ensure in-flight malfunctions and defect incidents are reported within required timeframes. Monitor technical delays, disruptions, air returns, taxi returns and cancellations. Liaise with Technical Services Engineers regarding defect history and troubleshooting. Provide technical advice relating to aircraft breakdowns, delays and cancellations. Participate in operational meetings and technical investigations when required. Support the Continuing Airworthiness Manager in the daily management of continuing airworthiness activities. Produce fleet updates every two hours and monitor AOG aircraft, MELs, CDLs, discrepancies, parts requirements and technical delays. Maintenance Watch Engineer Maintenance Watch Engineer Requirements Applicants should have: DHC8/ATR 72 LAME Licence or equivalent. Extensive knowledge of MEL applications and interpretations. Extensive knowledge of airline operations relating to Continuing Airworthiness and Technical Services. Strong aviation engineering experience, including experience in a senior engineering role. Good understanding of airline safety, airworthiness and commercial operational requirements. Ability to coordinate technical issues affecting in-service aircraft. Strong leadership, analytical, planning and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and computer skills. Ability to work effectively with MRO organisations, airline departments and aviation regulators. Ability to provide sound technical advice to senior management. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment and think outside the box. Knowledge of the PNG aviation environment and regulations will be an advantage.
