Job Description: Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (Industry - Relocation Required) Netherlands Overview A leading European engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to join its industrial industry team. This role is focused on delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across the energy, chemical, and food sectors, with a strong emphasis on electrification, energy efficiency, and modernisation of industrial plants. You will be part of multidisciplinary project teams consisting of engineers across all levels, working collaboratively on complex, high-impact industrial projects. This position is with our client, a leading European engineering and architecture consultancy driving sustainable development and digital transformation across industry. Location Groningen, Zwolle, Leeuwarden (Netherlands) Full relocation to the Netherlands is mandatory for this role Salary €5,500 – €7,000 per month (depending on experience) Role Level Senior Engineer Industry Sector Electrical Engineering & Instrumentation (E&I) Key Responsibilities In this role, you will take full technical ownership of E&I engineering within multidisciplinary industrial projects: Lead electrical and instrumentation design activities from concept through execution Translate customer and process requirements into robust, feasible engineering solutions Develop complete technical designs based on specifications, sketches, and functional requirements Act as a key technical sparring partner to lead engineers and project managers Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, process, civil, etc.) Ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and industry standards in all designs Mentor and guide junior and medior engineers within the team Advise clients on electrification, energy optimisation, and plant modernisation strategies Evaluate engineering decisions in live production environments with a strong safety focus Contribute to the adoption of digital tools, automation, and AI-driven engineering processes Project Exposure You will work on impactful and sustainability-driven industrial projects such as: Electrification of industrial installations Electric steam boiler systems Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) systems Expansion and upgrading of electrical infrastructure in existing plants Energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives Brownfield and greenfield industrial developments Requirements Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering or consultancy environments Technical Expertise Strong background in electrical and instrumentation engineering in industrial settings Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering project teams Key Attributes Strong collaboration and communication skills Proactive, solution-oriented mindset Ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical engineering solutions Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers Mandatory Requirement Willingness and ability to permanently relocate to the Netherlands is essential This role does not support remote or offshore-based working arrangements Candidates must be open to full relocation and integration into the Dutch working environment What You Can Expect Challenging, high-impact engineering projects that contribute to sustainability Hybrid working model (once fully relocated) Strong focus on professional growth and career development Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment Exposure to international projects within the broader group Active involvement in digitalisation, automation, and AI in engineering workflows Supportive leadership with autonomy and responsibility Benefits Benefits Competitive monthly salary 32 days annual leave Home working allowance and hybrid flexibility Strong pension scheme Flexible working arrangements Access to internal AI engineering tools (inhouse GPT) and digital platforms Their Academy for continuous learning and development Sustainability, wellness, and social engagement programmes Regular team events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and company activities Career Growth Clear progression pathways into: Lead Engineer Senior Specialist Engineer Project Manager
