An established regional pharmaceutical and healthcare provider is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Officer to join their team on a two-year renewable contract. This role is central to safeguarding the organisation’s interests by providing high-level legal guidance and ensuring rigorous regulatory adherence across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will act as a strategic advisor on corporate matters, managing a diverse portfolio that includes contract negotiation, litigation oversight, and policy development. This position offers a professional, stable environment for a legal practitioner looking to deepen their expertise in international and SADC-specific legal frameworks. Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive legal counsel on corporate governance, commercial contracts, and complex regulatory requirements. Author, evaluate, and refine a wide range of legal instruments, including service level agreements, internal policies, and compliance documentation. Monitor and ensure strict adherence to local and international statutes, industry-specific standards, and evolving healthcare regulations. Oversee the resolution of legal disputes, managing external counsel where necessary and conducting internal investigations. Partner with internal departments to provide legal perspective on business initiatives and strategic projects. Track legislative changes and legal trends within the SADC region to proactively mitigate corporate risk. Requirements Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised institution. Formally admitted or enrolled as an Attorney or Advocate. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience specifically within corporate law. Comprehensive knowledge of SADC regional laws, regulations, and international legal principles. Exceptional drafting skills with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear commercial terms. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or highly regulated manufacturing sectors. Experience in cross-border commercial transactions within Africa. Required Software Skills Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Adobe Acrobat Pro Legal Research Databases (e.g., LexisNexis or Juta) Zoho CRM or similar case management tools Benefits Competitive monthly cost-to-company remuneration.
