About Us

Safe Network is the Government's preferred provider of community-based therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults with concerning, problematic and harmful sexual behaviour across the upper North Island.  We understand that there are many reasons why children and young people may exhibit sexual behaviours that are inappropriate or unexpected for their age, most often linked to traumatic experiences, poor impulse control and emotional regulation, and a need for connection.

About the Role

Based at our Grafton office, you will utilise your therapeutic skills to support our clients through:

  • Conducting assessments and delivering interventions from a wider systemic and socio-ecological perspective.
  • Using your clinical expertise to provide a range of therapeutic interventions with children, their system of support, including family, caregivers, schools, and other agencies.
  • Effectively managing own caseload and administrative requirements.
  • Initiating and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders to best support the child and their whanau.
  • Bringing hope and making a sustainable difference to children, their families and their communities!

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children/youth in a therapeutic setting.
  • Tertiary level therapeutic qualification with New Zealand registration with a relevant professional body.
  • Experience forming strong, client-centred therapeutic alliances with children and their families/whanau.
  • The ability to work closely with the child’s school and social systems.
  • Strong clinical report writing skills and an ability to conceptualise and formulate case intervention plans.
  • An understanding on the influence of trauma and attachment on behaviour.

What we offer

Safe Network offers a unique career opportunity working with concerning sexual behaviour, where you will be supported by generous professional development opportunities and the ability to expand on your specialised knowledge and experience in an area of growing demand.

In addition, we also offer:

  • Employer-funded health, trauma or critical care, and income protection insurance through nib.
  • Support through professional supervision and EAP (Employee Assistance Programme).
  • Competitive remuneration package, including professional registration.
  • Free on-site carparking.
