• Manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste in accordance with “cradle-to-grave” regulatory requirements

• Oversee ordering, storage, labeling, tracking, and disposal of HAZMAT/HAZWASTE

• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations

• Coordinate and support regulatory inspections (e.g., Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Navy inspections)

• Identify and correct compliance deficiencies in coordination with environmental authorities

• Maintain proper segregation, labeling, and containment of hazardous materials by hazard class

• Ensure disposal occurs within 90-day storage limits or stricter applicable standards

• Maintain Authorized Users List (AUL) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all authorized materials

• Maintain records for the Hazardous Material/Waste Program including:

o Training documentation

o Inspection logs

o Disposal manifests and waste profiles

o Storage and compliance documentation

• Coordinate with Hazardous Material Minimization Center (HAZMINCEN) for material requisition

• Conduct weekly inspections of accumulation areas at designated facilities

• Ensure availability of spill response equipment and verify emergency systems

• Experience: Federal, state, and local hazardous material/waste regulations

• Experience: Managing HAZMAT inventory and compliance programs

• Experience: Ability to operate 4,000, 6,000, and 10,000-pound forklifts (including rough terrain forklifts)

• Certifications:

• Valid forklift operator’s license

• Navy Hazardous Waste Facility Operator (A-493-0076) or equivalent 40-hour course

• Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) certification (40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 262 compliance)

• Hazardous Waste Management

• Environmental Compliance and Enforcement

• Environmental Management Systems Awareness

• Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC)

• 24-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification (or OSHA-equivalent training)

• Valid state driver’s license with ability to operate vehicles up to 5 tons

• Skills: Equipment tracking skills

• Clearance: Secret

• Must be able to operate Government vehicles and equipment

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must maintain high attention to detail and accuracy

• Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision

• Must have knowledge of logistics, inventory, and compliance systems

• Must be capable of operating within classified environments and systems (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) / Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET))

• Must comply with all safety, environmental, security, and workplace regulations

• Ability to lift and handle hazardous materials safely

• Capability to stand, walk, and perform inspections for extended periods

• Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment

• Ability to work in industrial, warehouse, and outdoor environments

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
