Role Overview: 

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting functions across our two growing companies — the first a Property Management Company and second our Construction Services Company. 

This position will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial data, managing daily accounting operations, and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting to company leadership. The workload will be approximately 75% dedicated to the Property Management Company and 25% to the Construction Services Company. 

This is a key leadership position that will own accounting processes, improve financial systems, and provide meaningful insights to support executive decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Property Management Company (75%)
  • Manage full-cycle property accounting for a portfolio of 20–100 unit apartment buildings.
  • Oversee AppFolio financial workflows including bill entry, owner distributions, rent collections, and bank reconciliations.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements for ownership review.
  • Conduct financial diagnostics and variance analysis to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Maintain compliance with trust accounting standards, reserve requirements, and property-level reporting.
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate expense allocations, vendor payments, and property budgets.

• Construction Services Company (25%)
  • Manage QuickBooks Online accounting including classification of transactions, expense tracking, and account reconciliations.
  • Perform job costing and profitability analysis for individual projects within Jobber.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure invoices, payments, and payroll align with job-level budgets.
  • Support leadership with monthly P&L reviews and help forecast cash flow for active jobs.
  • Reconcile and report intercompany transactions between both companies as needed.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in property management.
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, bank reconciliation, financial analysis, accrual accounting, and job costing.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple entities and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present financial data clearly to leadership.
• Proven ability to build and maintain efficient accounting systems and processes.
• Exhibits high agency and critical thinking, willing to proactively suggest and advocate for solutions to streamline workflows.

Preferred

• Experience with AppFolio and Jobber.
