Head of Product & Technology
Confidential | Remote (UK/European Hours) | Full-Time
About the Company
We are a B Corp certified, AI-native ESG platform helping companies across the UK and Europe turn sustainability compliance from a burden into a business advantage. Over four years, we evolved from a sustainability software provider into something far more powerful: an AI agent purpose-built to automate the most time-consuming parts of ESG work.
Our core product is an AI ESG Agent that takes messy, fragmented data and converts it into finance-ready evidence and reports — in days, not months. We cover the full ESG stack: carbon measurement and reduction, B Corp certification and recertification, CSRD and regulatory compliance, supplier auditing, and ESG reporting across major frameworks. We serve a predominantly UK and European customer base, where mounting regulatory pressure is driving accelerating demand for exactly what we have built.
We are founder-led, lean by design, and scaling. Our team of five operates with a high level of autonomy, with AI tooling embedded across the entire operation.
About the Role
As we scale, the single biggest bottleneck to growth is product velocity. We have clear customer demand, a defined roadmap, and the AI tooling to move fast — what we need now is a technical leader who can own the entire delivery engine and actually build alongside it.
This is not a traditional CTO role. It is a hands-on, build-it-yourself position for someone who thrives in a lean startup environment and is as comfortable in Cursor and Claude Code as they are in a product strategy conversation. You will own the product from roadmap to deployment, work directly with the Founder, Sales, and Customer Success teams, and be a core voice in shaping where the platform goes next.
This role exists because we are ready to accelerate, and that requires a full-time technical owner who is embedded in the business — not a part-time contractor managing bandwidth across multiple clients.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Delivery
- Own end-to-end development of our AI ESG agent platform, from architecture decisions to deployment
- Work primarily within AI-native development environments including Cursor, Claude Code, and Lovable
- Design and build complex agent workflows where off-the-shelf AI tooling falls short — going under the hood when needed
- Translate product requirements into working software quickly, with a bias toward the simplest viable solution
- Test, QA, and iterate on features in close collaboration with CS and Sales based on real customer feedback
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Participate in customer-facing conversations and cross-functional syncs to stay close to what the market needs
- Contribute to roadmap prioritization alongside the Founder and Head of Customer Success
- Proactively surface trade-offs: what is buildable, what is not, and what timeline is realistic — no false promises
- Help identify the fastest path to market for new features and product expansions
Technical Leadership
- Set and maintain standards for how the product is built, tested, and maintained
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions appropriate for a fast-moving, AI-first startup
- Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and evaluate what is worth adopting
- Be a clear, direct voice on technical feasibility — internally and when needed, externally
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience owning full-stack or product development end-to-end in a startup or lean team environment
- Hands-on proficiency with modern AI development tools — Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent agentic coding environments
- Demonstrated ability to build and ship product, not just manage others who do
- Strong product instincts — able to evaluate what to build next and why, not just how
- Clear, direct communication style; comfortable pushing back, flagging risks, and setting realistic expectations
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during UK/European business hours or with meaningful overlap
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building AI agent workflows, LLM integrations, or automation-heavy products
- Background in B2B SaaS, compliance tech, or regulated industry software
- Exposure to ESG, sustainability reporting, or adjacent domains (can be developed on the job)
- Experience working directly with a founder or as an early technical hire
- Familiarity with UK/EU regulatory frameworks (CSRD, B Corp, SECR, etc.) — a plus, not a requirement
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are someone who gets things done. You do not need a large team, a defined process, or a long runway to start shipping — you build momentum yourself. You think before you speak, communicate trade-offs plainly, and take ownership of outcomes rather than activities.
You are:
- Hands-on and execution-focused — comfortable writing code and owning delivery, not just directing it
- Calm under pressure — startup pace does not rattle you, it motivates you
- Commercially aware — you understand that what gets built should connect to what customers need and what the business can sell
- Direct and candid — you say what is achievable, flag what is not, and back your positions with reasoning
- Genuinely curious about AI tooling — you follow the space, experiment early, and bring that energy to how the product gets built
- Collaborative without needing hand-holding — you engage closely with a small team and operate with high autonomy
Why This Role
- Be the technical owner of an AI agent that is actively changing how businesses approach ESG — in a market where regulatory pressure is only accelerating
- Work directly with the Founder with a real seat at the strategy table, not a layer removed from decisions
- Full ownership and autonomy over how the product is built and where it goes
- Join a lean, high-trust, B Corp certified team that moves fast and values clarity over corporate process
- Competitive compensation benchmarked to global market rates for a role of this scope
