A growing independent children’s book brand is seeking a highly creative and strategic Social Media & Content Manager to build and scale its digital presence. The brand consists of a series of children’s books centered around personal development themes such as kindness, communication, and emotional intelligence, all tied together by consistent characters and storytelling.
With multiple published titles and additional releases planned this year, the company is focused on increasing visibility, building a recognizable brand identity, and driving meaningful engagement that converts into book sales.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, hands-on creative role responsible for building, managing, and growing the brand’s social media presence from the ground up. The ideal candidate will combine content creation, video editing, and social media strategy to develop engaging campaigns that bring the books—and their core messages—to life.
This role goes beyond posting content; it is about creating a cohesive brand experience, generating audience interest, and ultimately driving traffic and sales through digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms (primarily Instagram and Facebook)
- Transform currently inactive social channels into engaging, growth-focused platforms
- Plan and manage a consistent content calendar aligned with book themes and launches
- Monitor performance metrics and optimize content based on engagement and reach
Lead Generation & Revenue Support
- Develop and execute strategies to generate speaker bookings and children’s workshop opportunities
- Create and promote content that positions the author as a thought leader in children’s development and education
- Identify and engage with schools, organizations, and event opportunities through social media and outreach
- Support conversion of audience engagement into paid speaking engagements and workshop bookings
- Create engaging short-form video content to promote books and their key messages
- Edit videos that highlight storytelling, characters, and educational themes
- Ensure consistency in tone, style, and branding across all content
- Repurpose book content into visually compelling digital assets
- Design social media graphics, promotional visuals, and branded content
- Maintain visual consistency across all platforms and campaigns
- Create assets that clearly communicate each book’s message at a glance
- Help establish and refine the brand identity across digital platforms
- Ensure all content aligns with the overarching mission and themes of the books
- Contribute ideas for long-term brand growth and positioning
- Support storytelling around the author to build a personal connection with the audience
- Drive audience growth, engagement, and visibility across platforms
- Implement strategies to increase traffic to book listings and purchase channels
- Engage with followers and build an active online community
- Support launch campaigns for upcoming book releases
- Growth in social media followers and engagement rates

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in social media management and content creation
- Strong video editing skills (short-form content preferred)
- Graphic design capabilities for social media and branding assets
- Creative storyteller with the ability to translate themes into engaging content
- Experience building or scaling social media accounts from low activity
- Strong understanding of audience engagement and digital growth strategies
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating directly with the founder
Preferred Background
- Experience working with authors, publishers, or personal brands
- Familiarity with children’s content, education, or storytelling brands
- Ability to contribute light brand strategy ideas (bonus, not required)
