About the opportunity:

This position operates telephone business systems equipment or switchboards and paging systems to receive and route all incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. This role will supply information to callers and record messages and also has responsibility responding to alarm systems.  

What you will do:
  1. Operates communication systems, such as telephone, switchboard, intercom, email, or electronic paging.
  2. Consistently ascertains the nature of the call by listening well. Consistently routes calls to their intended destination. Keeps records of individuals that are paged and response times.
  3. Maintains current listing of all department staff telephone numbers, including emergency numbers and on-call staff. Maintains accurate daily call schedule and informs other departments of daily call schedule changes.
  4. Maintains a thorough knowledge of Vail Health policies and procedures regarding all types of alarms.
  5. Acts as an answering service for physicians on the Vail Clinics Medical Staff, as requested.
  6. Assists in placing long distance calls for employees and patients, as requested.
  7. Maintains documentation from medical records and reports for third party vendors, as necessary.
  8. Helps to train and educate new staff. Participates in educational programs and staff meetings.
  9. Manages office supplies and orders supplies, as necessary.
  10. Models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
 
Experience:
  • Prior switchboard experience, preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, previous admitting, clerical, customer service, or hospitality, preferred.
License(s):

  • N/A
Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
 
Education:
  • Course work in Medical Terminology, preferred.
