Staff Backend Engineer - Device Security

Verkada’s device security team has an important mission–empower the company to build the safest physical security products in the world.  We are directly responsible for the development of important defensive security measures that run on all Verkada devices.  We help maintain and expand security testing infrastructure that constantly evaluates devices for security vulnerabilities.  And we help the company build stronger and more resilient products through our offensive security evaluation efforts.  If you love building scalable systems that have a huge impact, we want to hear from you!

• →Design, build, maintain, and scale device security backend systems, such as those relating to authorization and logging.
• →Build out and maintain security infrastructure, such as internal tooling to automate device security testing.
• →Research & develop tooling that helps us secure the firmware supply chain.
• →Help mentor other engineers, and learn everything you can about security.

• 8+ years developing go/Python microservices with AWS and participating in on-call
• Strong knowledge of scalable fault-tolerant backend systems design, including databases, queues, blob storage
• Working knowledge of at least some of these: temporal, k8s, docker, redis, dynamoDB, postgres, IAM, S3, kafka
• Strong understanding and experience in systems architecture
• BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering (preferred)
• Firmware or OS-level software development experience (preferred)
• Security experience, hacker mindset, or interest in learning more (preferred)
