  • Business Critical Transformation Mandate

At Westpac, we’re delivering one of the most significant technology transformations in our history. At the heart of this sits UNITE’s shared integration testing environment — a single, high‑stakes platform enabling multiple large-scale programs to test, integrate and deploy safely.

We’re looking for a hands-on Program Director to own and operate this environment at scale — someone who has already led large, complex enterprise testing transformations and knows what it takes to drive outcomes in high‑pressure, multi‑program ecosystems.

This is not a coordination role. It’s a leadership position with real authority and impact.

You’ll be accountable for ensuring up to 10+ concurrent technology programs can test safely and efficiently in a shared, high‑contention enterprise environment — balancing competing priorities, managing risk, and protecting delivery timelines at scale.

You’ll shape how enterprise testing is delivered — defining governance, setting standards, and embedding operating rhythms that will last long after the program ends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end test triage, governance, and delivery cadence across a shared integration environment
  • Manage defect triage across critical issues — driving structured root cause, accountability, and resolution
  • Own batch schedule governance, ensuring disciplined execution across multiple programs
  • Represent environment health, risk and delivery readiness to senior leaders and executive forums
  • Cut through complexity — turning technical risk into clear, actionable insight
  • Influence program directors, test leaders, and technology stakeholders across the portfolio
  • Define and evolve the testing environment operating model (triage, scheduling, governance, escalation)
  • Improve utilisation, reduce contention, and enable faster onboarding of programs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across monitoring, forecasting and process design

We’re looking for proven, hands-on operators — leaders who have done this before and know how to execute in complex enterprise environments.

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, multi‑stream technology programs at enterprise level
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise testing or integration environment transformations
  • Deep expertise in defect triage, test coordination, and complex dependency management
  • Strong track record managing competing priorities across multiple delivery streams
  • You bring structure to complexity — establishing processes that hold under pressure
  • You are decisive and accountable — you make the call and hold teams to it
  • You communicate with impact — from engineers through to executive steering committees
  • You thrive in high‑ambiguity, high‑stakes environments and deliver outcomes
  • Experience in large-scale financial services or core banking transformations
  • Exposure to batch-driven, integrated testing environments
  • Experience designing governance frameworks and operating models at scale

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country.

Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
