Youth Community Worker - Summer Vacancy

Woolwich Community Health Centre (WCHC), a multi-site health centre with locations in St. Jacobs, Linwood and Wellesley, is hiring two (2) summer Community Workers to support the community services team. The hour of work is Monday through Friday (9:00 am to 5:00 pm and some evenings) for a total of 30 hours per week for 9 weeks, from June 22, 2026 to August 21, 2026 at $19.95 per hour + 4% in lieu of benefits. The youth will work with the health centre’s community services team to plan and carry out specific projects outlined in the job description below. Orientation will include safety training for health care workers, including correct usage of PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, organizing and evaluating health and mental wellness education sessions.
- Gather information on community resources
- Computer and data entry for community services activities
- Provide clerical and administrative support to programs
- Assist with gathering information, including assessing community needs, writing wellness blog posts.
- Assist with client satisfaction surveys, data entry, electronic client record
- Create promotional marketing materials for programs and services
- Help with the organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Youth Centre’s programs for children and youth.
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- Proof of age less than 30 years old (this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which requires that applicants are under 30 years of age).
- Registration in a college or university in health or social services program or related area of study an asset
- Experience in a community-based setting and/or experience with rural populations would be considered an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple demands.
- Commitment to working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of/experience with health and social issues facing Woolwich and Wellesley residents
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office, other related software and social media.
- COVID-19 vaccination required.
- Access to a vehicle an asset.
- Ability to speak Low German an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the community.
