The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inventory management activities within an aviation manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory records, efficient material flow, compliance with aerospace regulations, and uninterrupted production support. The supervisor leads inventory personnel, coordinates with production and procurement teams, and maintains strict control of aviation parts, raw materials, tooling, and components in accordance with quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily inventory control operations including receiving, storage, issuance, cycle counting, and reconciliation of aviation materials and components.  
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and corrective actions.  
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, FAA regulations, AS9100 requirements, and company quality procedures.  
  • Monitor material availability to support production schedules and minimize shortages or excess inventory.  
  • Coordinate with purchasing, production planning, warehouse, and quality departments to optimize material flow.  
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, root causes, and implement preventive measures.  
  • Oversee ERP/MRP inventory transactions and ensure timely and accurate system updates.  
  • Manage shelf-life control, lot traceability, serial number tracking, and hazardous material storage where applicable.  
  • Develop and maintain inventory KPIs such as inventory accuracy, stock turns, cycle count compliance, and material availability.  
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate inventory control staff and warehouse personnel.  
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.  
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory and material management.

  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and proper handling of aviation components and sensitive materials.  

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.  
  • 3–7 years of inventory control or warehouse experience in aviation, aerospace, or manufacturing industries.  
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.  
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, ERP/MRP software (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.).  
  • Understanding of aviation manufacturing processes and aerospace quality standards.  
  • Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and material traceability.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.  
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.  
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.  
  • Knowledge of FAA, AS9100, ISO standards, and export compliance requirements.  
  • APICS/CPIM certification preferred.  
  • Forklift certification or warehouse equipment experience is a plus.  
Pay range for this role
$73,000$87,000 USD
