As a member of the senior administrative team, the Administrative Director of Primary Care and Community Health reports to the COO. Having broad scope, supervises and supports leaders that have responsibility for multiple service lines: Primary Care, Public/Community Health, Occupational and Employee Health, and Urgent Care. Ensures alignment of services with organizational goals, financial targets, and growth strategies. Maintains responsibility for strategic vision, collaborative development, and ensuring implementation of operating plans within the service lines and across the organization. Partners with Population Health/ACO to lead the strategic development and implementation of clinical initiatives that improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and enhance care coordination across the service area.
In partnership with directors and providers, oversees management of assigned service lines to ensure the overall operational success in cost, quality, and service. Leads optimization of workflows, access, and resource utilization to enhance patient care and provider efficiency. Provides vision and direction for developing a culture where physicians, advanced practice providers, leaders, and staff desire to devote their careers. Demonstrates and promotes corporate values, service excellence, continuous improvement, team development and professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in healthcare, public health, business administration, or related field required preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma or other performance improvement certification preferred
- Minimum of seven years of management and job-related experience in a physician practice or ambulatory care setting within a hospital system required.
- Certification in healthcare management (e.g., FACHE, CHFP, CRHCP) is preferred.
The Administrative Director must possess strong leadership capabilities, with a proven ability to inspire, develop, and lead leadership teams in a healthcare setting. They should demonstrate exceptional strategic thinking, able to develop and execute long-term plans that improve patient care, increase operational efficiency, and expand services. Financial acumen is essential, including experience managing budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring the sustainability of programs.
- In accordance with Augusta Health’s mission, vision and goals, the Administrative Director anticipates the future, examines the competitive environment, formulates strategic business plans, and articulates the vision for multiple service lines and clinical specialties.
- Works with Senior & Corporate Leadership to define standards of excellence and quality and ensures standards are upheld at a reasonable cost.
- Develops, defines, and implements Augusta Health and Augusta Medical Group processes and policies to promote standardization and best practice.
- Collaborates with Human Resources and Provider Recruitment to implement strategies focused on the recruitment, retention and growth of a well-qualified workforce.
- Builds and maintains a strong, cohesive and high-performing team of directors and managers.
- Builds and maintains appropriate leadership infrastructure based on professional benchmarks and provider production. Ensures effective relations through appropriate communication and timely problem resolution.
- Supports a culture of professional growth, mentoring and advancement with ongoing succession planning.
- Models and promotes a strong customer service focus and Augusta Way principles.
- Manages patient experience and provider engagement scores and implements strategies to improve.
- Identifies and implements innovative care delivery models tailored to the unique needs of populations served, advancing Augusta Health’s mission.
- Collaborates with Operative Services leaders to ensure resources are aligned to meet the needs of providers and service lines.
- Collaborates with the Senior Medical Directors to assess and integrate new technologies, clinical practices, and service models that enhance patient care and drive continuous improvement in alignment with Augusta Health’s strategic goals.
- Supports clinical quality initiatives under the direction and partnership of Medical Directors, CMO, and ACO populations’ health.
- In collaboration with Finance, ensures development of annual capital and operating budgets for areas of line responsibility. Monitors and manages financial performance to ensure compliance with established budgets and organizational goals.
- In collaboration with Marketing, oversees development and implementation of marketing plans for service lines. Monitors primary and secondary market analysis in order to continuously evaluate the competitive position of service lines.
- In collaboration with the Project Management Office, plans and oversees practice growth and facility expansion.
- In collaboration with Business Development, ensures effective analytics and management of provider relations to optimize service volume and reduce network outmigration.

- Interfaces with all matrix departments regarding cross-functional strategic and operational issues.
- Monitors practice and line performance related to established metrics and oversees practice support of ongoing performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with providers and staff to identify and implement innovative approaches to cost effective quality care.
- Supports service line operations meetings.
- Fulfills all compliance and regulatory responsibilities related to position.
- Ensures alignment of services with organizational growth plans, payer strategy, and referral network optimization efforts
