SOUND Behavioral Health is welcoming a Director of Grants & Community Engagement in Tukwila, WA, to help share our mission with more community members.
We are one of King County’s most comprehensive providers of quality mental health and addiction treatment services, supporting our area’s most vulnerable populations.
This person will build and strengthen community awareness though meaningful activities that grows SOUND’s presence, relevance and impact in the areas we serve. In addition, the Director of Grants & Community Engagement will create, develop, plan, direct and/or support community engagement activities in support of fundraising efforts, community programs, events, government affairs and partnerships.
Responsibilities

Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships across departments, engaging with team members, management, and leadership in a manner that values diverse perspectives and lived experiences. This position is expected to have significant interaction with the public, community organizations, and business leaders. Contributes to a respectful and inclusive work environment by practicing cultural humility, promoting equity in services and decision-making, and supporting efforts that foster a sense of belonging for all.
Requirements
~1 min read- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey information, ideas, and strategies to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze digital reports, analytics dashboards, marketing data, and written materials.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer and using standard office equipment.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally move throughout the office to attend meetings or collaborate with team members.
- Ability to focus, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines, shifting priorities, and work-related stress in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a leadership team.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field is required. Master’s degree communications, marketing, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in the area of development/fundraising, communications, events planning, or non-profit management is required.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Attention to detail is paramount.
- Track record of meeting deadlines
- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication acumen.
- Ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers through motivation, delegation, evaluation, and effective communication skills.
- Proficient problem-solving with ability to make complex matters clear and easy to understand.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and high level of initiative.
- Skilled in maintaining good relations with all contacts using tact and diplomacy.
- Washington driver’s license and insurable driving record required for community events and outreach responsibilities.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Ability to work a regular, full-time, Monday-Friday in-office schedule, that is fast-paced with frequent interruptions.
