Technical Officer (2 positions)

Help protect environment and heritage.

• 2 x temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) opportunities until June 2029.

• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $119,292 to $134,587 p.a. plus super

We are seeking two technically minded and collaborative professionals to join the NABERS team and contribute to Australia's leading environmental performance rating system for buildings.

We are recruiting for:

1. an Embodied Carbon Technical Officer
2. a Technical Officer (Level 2)

Both roles offer the opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainability, helping shape the future of building performance and support Australia's transition to a more sustainable built environment.

You are a proactive and analytical. You enjoy working with technical information, solving complex problems and contributing to positive sustainability outcomes.

You understand sustainability principles and NABERS programs. You also understand how these are applied within the built environment.

You have experience reviewing and analysing technical documents. You can interpret environmental and sustainability requirements.

There are two roles we are recruiting for, and both have different requirements.

In this role, you will provide technical support to accredited assessors, contribute to the development and maintenance of NABERS tools and methodologies, and support the delivery of innovative solutions that advance sustainability outcomes across the built environment.

Key experience:

• Embodied carbon assessments.
• Sustainable building design and development, construction materials, or similar.
• Building and maintaining good relationships with industry stakeholders.
• Carrying out research and analysing research results.
• Asking questions and reviewing technical details to understand complex issues.
• Communicating clearly in writing and with stakeholders. Much of the role will involve collaborating with others and making things clear for them quickly.  
• Prioritising work and focusing on important issues.
• Confidence in speaking with stakeholders: listening and understanding stakeholder needs.

In this role, you will support the delivery of the NABERS audit program, helping to ensure the integrity, consistency, and quality of NABERS ratings. You will work closely with accredited assessors and auditors to manage technical reviews, resolve complex issues, and support continuous improvement across NABERS auditing and quality assurance processes.

• Interpreting and applying technical rules, policies, and procedures.
• Reviewing technical evidence and making evidence-based recommendations.
• Managing complex technical issues and facilitating resolution between stakeholders.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with assessors, auditors, and industry stakeholders.
• Communicating complex technical information clearly and professionally.
• Analysing audit outcomes and identifying opportunities for quality improvement.
• Exercising sound judgement and attention to detail in technical decision-making.
• Managing competing priorities and delivering work within required timeframes.
