The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritionally balanced snacks and meals for up to 90 children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age. The Cook will be responsible for all menu planning and required purchases of supplies, will additionally perform a variety of housekeeping tasks in compliance with regulatory standards, and will provide support to the Centre's café operations as needed. This position reports to the Director of the Child Care Centre.
Responsibilities:
1. Being a support for the program such as bringing snacks and meals to the classroom, assisting in café service during operational hours, and participation in staff meetings.
2. The submission and review of menu planning for snacks and lunches in accordance with Canada's Food Guide.
3. Responsible for the purchasing of groceries and other supplies for the child care program.
4. Overall cleanliness of the kitchen, café, and laundry area and maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and a cleaning schedule.
5. Supporting café operations including food and beverage preparation, serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner, and ensuring the café area is tidy.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates must possess a Food Services Cook Certificate or equivalency and will have a current First Aid/CPR Certificate and Safe Food Handler course. The selected candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with parents, colleagues and community members and a willingness to work flex hours. A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 drivers license is considered an asset.
