Job Purpose

Senior Engineer, Instrument in the assigned area responsibility to ensure reliable equipment maintenance in line with operational objectives and continuous improvement program. Has responsibility for trade specific supervision of maintenance activities including preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance and plant turnarounds. Ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with approved safety standards and work procedures.

Ensures the Instrument maintenance team, facilities, resources, and systems are developed and implemented before plant commissioning.   

Key Accountabilities

Management Support

  • Assist Department management in planning and organizing resources (human & equipment) needed to deliver the department’s objectives.

  • Assists in the development of maintenance service agreements with customers and contractors.

  • Works closely with scheduling and plant personnel to ensure priority work is executed and manages the work order “backlog”. 

  • Assists in development of the annual instrument maintenance budget for assigned section(s) in conjunction with the Instrument Manager, monitors performance and highlights the reasons for deviation monthly.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of instrument maintenance policies and procedures.

 

Services

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the instrument maintenance reliability program.

  • Ensures that all instrument maintenance work is performed efficiently at minimum cost and in accordance with approved safety standards and procedures.

  • Ensures all work is authorized and carried out in compliance with the safe work permit system.

  • Ensures instrument technicians resources are dedicated to assigned section(s) to meet normal requirements and that additional resources are assigned as required to meet abnormal, breakdown or turnaround requirements.

  • Supports development and implementation of the maintenance workflow process and maintenance execution system (example: Oracle or SAP)

  • Identifies and manages critical instrument spare parts and instrument maintenance tools including specialized tools.

  • Ensures instrument spare parts and consumables are adequately stocked in the warehouse and that adequate specifications and supplies have been developed to enable ordering.

  • Ensure instrument equipment failures are analyzed and improvement recommendations are implemented to prevent repeat failures.

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with a wide range of superiors and subordinates’ personnel, both internally and externally.

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Promote a culture of “Safety First” as reflected by low accident and incident rates.

  • Ensure implementation of the operational HSE Management System to ensure all staff observe standard HSE processes and operating procedures.

  • Participates in Emergency Response and Command activities as required.

  • Ensures that all mechanical personnel and contractors are fully briefed and trained on HSE regulations and adhere to them.

  • Participate in the investigation of work accidents and/or incidents ensuring the effective implementation of the safety policies.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrument 

Minimum Experience:

  • 7 years of experience in Maintenance feilds.
