POSITION DUTIES

The Director of the Veterans Home Program and the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home (CHVH) serves as the on-site representative and primary advocate for the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families (DVMF) and the residents of CHVH. This position is responsible for administering all aspects of the State's oversight of the facility, which operates under a comprehensive contract with a private health care contractor. The Director ensures contractor compliance with all federal, state, and contractual requirements; manages the facility's State operating and capital budgets; supervises DVMF staff; and coordinates all facility-related activities with DVMF Headquarters, State agencies, and federal partners, particularly the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA).\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Director works with the DVMF Secretary and leadership team to ensure that DVMF’s vision for the future of the Veterans Home Program remains aligned with the Governor’s priority to provide excellent facilities statewide for the care of senior veterans. In doing so, the Director embraces the Governor’s vision and advocates for it both internally and through a network of stakeholders at all levels of government and in the private sector.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:�\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Three (3) years of experience directing or managing operations of a major long-term care and skilled nursing facility or State veterans home\r\n Three (3) years of experience managing large, complex service contracts\r\n Ability to think and plan strategically for an organization\r\n Excellent oral and written communication\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
