Main Purpose of Job
A Workforce Development Resources Specialist is the trainee level of work in the field of workforce development. Employees in this classification learn to perform workforce development duties that deliver a wide range of career services to special and targeted populations of job seekers to increase and enhance their job seeking skills and lessen their duration of unemployment. This position provides basic career and labor exchange services under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act with focus on unemployment insurance claimants.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Assists customers by facilitating and demonstrating the usage of self-service workforce resources;\r\nDemonstrates online tools including assessment and external employment resources;\r\nAssesses the skills and needs using the automated system to complete, review and update customer registration;\r\nConducts informal assessments in resource areas and provide initial options for program and partner referrals;\r\nIdentifies potential job matches of customer skills with job qualifications in automated workforce system;\r\nRefers qualified customers to job openings utilizing the automated workforce system;\r\nProvides services to job seekers to expedite their entry or re-entry into� employment;\r\nMay refer job seekers to training and/or supportive services to improve their job readiness by utilizing community, training and educational resources;\r\nProvides basic information and referral to federal bonding or other hiring incentive programs;\r\nProvide to staff� for the purpose of issuing a federal bonding letter;\r\nResponsible for ensuring resource area collateral materials are current;\r\nMay provide eligibility review after unemployment insurance workshops;\r\nMay promote special programs such as Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), State discretionary grants, enterprise zone tax credits, etc. May provide informal Resume consultation;\r\nMay answer basic Unemployment Insurance inquiries as directed by UI;\r\nMay share labor market information with customers using appropriate resource materials and automated systems so they can make informed decisions on labor trends and economic conditions;\r\nFacilitate the engagement of job seekers and businesses with employment resources by providing comprehensive information on the local workforce system;\r\nReferral to staff to provide information on basic business services, take job orders and referrals from businesses;\r\nIdentifies the greater employers' needs and facilitates a warm handoff (referral to business services) to a higher-level Workforce Development Specialist or other designated staff;\r\nMay enter job orders into the automated system according to employer specifications\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:���Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience:�None.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute experience in the field of workforce development, customer service, human resources, recruiting or similar field may be substituted on a year-for- year basis for the�required education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer with active-duty military recruiting experience or career counseling experience on a year-by-year basis for the required education.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\nThe following qualification is preferred, not required. However, if you have this experience it must be detailed in the job duty section on your application.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n One year of experience in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel) and Google Suites\r\n Knowledge and/or experience of Workforce Development Programs\r\n Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.\r\n Experience working in customer service via face to face, telephone, and email.\r\n\r\n\r\n
