Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The\r\nfundamental reason this classification exists is to order, record, store, and\r\nissue automotive, heavy equipment and/or other related parts to include tires\r\nand supplies for fleet maintenance and repair.\r\nThe work responsibilities of the classification are: maintains a large\r\nand varied stock of automotive and vehicle parts; orders parts by reviewing\r\nauto/vehicle parts manuals contacting vendors, etc.; processes vendor invoices; processes\r\nwork orders from mechanics; monitors and maintains parts inventory; and\r\nperforms department related duties.\r\nDirect supervision is received from the Fleet Maintenance Parts\r\nSupervisor.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

High\r\nschool diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience in automotive/vehicle\r\nparts to include tires, and counter work to include computerized inventory and\r\npurchasing.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:� Qualifying education, training and experience\r\nthat provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job\r\nwill be considered.\r\n\r\n

Special Requirements

May be required to work days or nights and some\r\nholidays.� Must be able to work flexible\r\nwork schedules as needed to maintain adequate manpower.� Must have or obtain a valid and current\r\nAlabama driver’s license in order to drive city vehicles. Must obtain forklift\r\ncertification after probationary period.\r\n\r\n\r\nPHYSICAL ABILITIES:�Physically\r\nable to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs. unassisted.\r\nPhysically able to stand, stoop,\r\nbend, lift, pull and climb as needed to locate part numbers on vehicles or\r\nequipment.\r\nPhysically able to operate vehicles\r\nand material handling equipment as needed to pick up, move, load and unload\r\nparts, equipment and supplies.\r\n\r\n

Kind of Examination

\r\n\r\nApplications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.� The current vacancy�is with the�City of Montgomery Fleet Management Department.�Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.� For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken.
