This is an exciting opportunity to step into a key leadership role for a 12-month fixed term (parental leave cover), starting in August. You’ll lead a passionate and collaborative team responsible for delivering diverse fundraising streams that support the Mental Health Foundation’s vital work across Aotearoa.
The Role
As our Fundraising Manager, you’ll lead the development and delivery of MHF’s fundraising strategy, driving sustainable income growth while ensuring a positive and engaging experience for our donors and supporters.
You’ll oversee a team working across individual giving, partnerships, grants, peer-to-peer and campaigns, and work collaboratively across the organisation to maximise impact and alignment.
This role reports to the Head of Public Engagement and Operations and has 5 direct reports.
What you will do
- Lead and support a high-performing fundraising team, fostering a positive, collaborative and accountable culture.
- Continue to drive and deliver the fundraising strategy and annual plan.
- Use data and insights to inform decisions, track performance and optimise fundraising activity.
- Oversee integrated fundraising campaigns, working closely with communications and marketing teams and external partners.
- Manage budgets, forecasts and reporting, ensuring targets are met and resources are well used.
- Continue to build strong relationships with donors, partners and suppliers, supporting innovative fundraising approaches and long-term engagement.
- Strengthen systems and processes, including oversight of the donor database and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will have

- Experience in a fundraising leadership or management role; leading and supporting teams to achieve results
- Experience across multiple fundraising streams (e.g. direct marketing, partnerships, major donors) with proven track record delivering results and experience managing Individual Giving programmes at scale, specifically Regular Giving and Single Gifts
- Strong experience developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Experience managing budgets, reporting and using data to inform decisions
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across a range of stakeholders
- Existing knowledge of, or willingness to grow understanding of, te ao Māori and te reo Māori
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application
- Experience in NGO or public sector environments

This is a 12-month fixed term role (parental leave cover), starting in July. Salary band: $106,000 - $120,000 commensurate with skills and experience. We are reviewing applications as they come in and applications will close on June 4th the role - so don’t wait!
