DevOps-Focused Backend Engineer Role Overview We are seeking a Backend Engineer with a strong DevOps mindset to join our engineering team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between core development and operational excellence, ensuring our Java-based services are not only high-performing but also seamlessly integrated into automated, scalable delivery pipelines. Key Responsibilities * Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services primarily utilizing Java. * CI/CD Optimization: Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, driving automation across build, test, and deployment phases. * Workflow Automation: Architect and maintain automated workflows using GitHub Actions to streamline development cycles. * Automation Scripting: Author and manage complex Bash scripts to support deployment orchestration and routine operational tasks. * Release Management: Coordinate application releases, ensuring processes are reliable, repeatable, and documented. * System Stability: Partner with Engineering and Product teams to improve system uptime and refine deployment methodologies. * Incident Resolution: Troubleshoot production and deployment-related issues, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Required Skills & Experience * Java Expertise: Proven experience in backend development with a focus on Java. * CI/CD Implementation: Practical experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines. * GitHub Actions: Direct experience implementing workflow automation via GitHub Actions. * Advanced Scripting: Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system administration. * Release Engineering: Professional background in release management and deployment orchestration. * Full-Stack Awareness: Working knowledge of JavaScript and modern web technologies. * DevOps Philosophy: A strong understanding of DevOps principles, focusing on the "developer-first" approach to infrastructure. * Agile Proficiency: Experience operating effectively within Agile or high-growth environments. Preferred Qualifications * Cloud Infrastructure: Exposure to major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP). * Site Reliability: Previous collaboration with SRE or dedicated DevOps teams. * Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration. * Build Tooling: Advanced knowledge of Maven or Gradle for dependency management.
