About Orange Sky
Orange Sky exists to support Australians who are facing challenges in their lives, including homelessness, financial hardship, limited access to laundry facilities or temporary displacement due to a natural disaster. We are committed to being there when it’s needed most, offering free laundry services, warm showers and friendly chats with our volunteers. Our volunteers and vans hit the road every day across Australia and New Zealand, helping folks feel seen, heard, and supported. Over the past nine years, we’ve met thousands of amazing people and heard some incredible stories. Now, we’re on the lookout for someone just as passionate to join our team and help keep the wheels turning, literally!
The Role
Reporting to our Asset Ops Specialist, you’ll be one of the key people making sure our vans are safe, reliable and ready to roll. You’ll help manage our fleet across Aus and NZ coordinating maintenance, sorting out any unexpected hiccups, and making sure everything’s running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s a hands-on, get-stuff-done kind of role where you’ll be working closely with our Vehicle Leaders, partners, suppliers and contractors to keep services running and support our volunteers and friends in the community.
What you’ll be doing (in a nutshell)
- Helping our vehicles stay roadworthy, safe and ready for action
- Jumping in to coordinate maintenance and respond to incidents with urgency and effective resolutions
- Supporting repairs, upgrades, and new builds of our vehicles
- Travelling to services as needed to provide on-the-ground support
- Contributing to develop and implement strategies to improve and expand community impact with a focus on building service efficiency and stakeholder support programs
- Building strong, ongoing relationships with Vehicle Leaders, providing regular updates and support to keep them engaged and informed
- Building strong connections with our team, volunteers, and external partners and suppliers
- Pitching in with stock and inventory tasks
- Using data and info to help make smart decisions and improve how we roll
- Being the go-to person when a van’s having a bad day
What you bring to the table
- You build great relationships and know how to communicate with all kinds of stakeholders
- You’re organised, reliable, and know how to juggle priorities like a pro and work towards tight deadlines
- You're proactive, love problem-solving and able to think on your feet
- You’re good with some travel and occasional after-hours support when needed
- You’re passionate about what we do and want to help make a difference
- Bonus points if you’ve worked in asset/fleet coordination before – but not a deal breaker
Why Join Orange Sky?
At Orange Sky, we want every person to be "Better for Being Orange". That is every one of our volunteers, friends, and supporters, all while working together towards delivering our mission of "Positively Connecting Communities". - A supportive, purpose-driven team that knows how to have fun
- An attractive and fair remuneration with salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax free per year
- A paid-out rewards scheme, additional gifted leave days & performance perk.
- Flexible approach to work
- Personal growth opportunities through our ‘My Career Pathway’
- Professional development fund (both formal and informal learning opportunities)
- Fitness Passport memberships on offer for you and your family to help support a healthy lifestyle;
- 6-12 weeks paid parental leave for primary care givers and 1 week for secondary caregivers, including superannuation in addition to the 18 weeks paid parental leave from the government. Plus support for parents returning to work;
