About Orange Sky

Orange Sky exists to support Australians who are facing challenges in their lives, including homelessness, financial hardship, limited access to laundry facilities, or temporary displacement due to a natural disaster. We are committed to being there when it’s needed most, offering free laundry services, warm showers, and friendly chats with our volunteers. Our Marketing Team brings this mission to life by sharing powerful stories, building awareness, and inviting others to be part of the journey. Through creativity and connection, they help grow our community of supporters and ensure our mission to positively connect communities continues to shine.

The Role

At Orange Sky, every story we tell is an opportunity to spark a connection. We are looking for a creative, proactive, and media-savvy PR and Content Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the PR & Content Manager, you will be the engine room of our storytelling—finding the heart in every interaction and sharing it with the world across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Whether you are pitching a story to a national news outlet, capturing content on the ground with our "friends" (the people who use our service), or ensuring our ethical consent processes are airtight, you will play a vital role in elevating the Orange Sky brand and mission.

In a nutshell, the PR and Content Coordinator will:

Drive the Narrative & Media Presence

You are the first point of contact for incoming media enquiries and the proactive voice reaching out to journalists—sharing heart-warming stories of connection and resilience, and the hard-hitting stories showcasing Orange Sky's voice on homelessness and hardship. You’ll lead the creation of press releases and pitches, prepare our talent for interviews, and build lasting relationships with media contacts. By monitoring our earned media and reporting on metrics, you’ll help us understand our impact and refine our strategy to keep our mission front of mind.

Capture & Create Compelling Content

You’ll manage the end-to-end content production workflow—from ideation, management of videographers and photographers, and interviewing talent, right through to the final edit—capturing and showcasing the real human stories of Orange Sky and our impact. You have a knack for tailoring content to suit different platforms and audiences while keeping the Orange Sky tone consistent. Importantly, you will be the guardian of our ethical consent process, ensuring every story is told with dignity, respect, and informed permission.

Support Integrated Campaigns

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You’ll work across the Marketing team to support the delivery of fundraising, volunteer, and brand campaigns. Whether it’s drafting campaign key messages, reviewing copy for a support EDM, or providing brand advice to internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure that every piece of collateral aligns with our visual identity and strategic goals.

Convinced this is the role for you? Tick some boxes!

We are looking for a storyteller who is as organised as they are creative. You’ll have 3+ years of experience in PR, communications, or marketing, with a demonstrated ability to manage media relations and content workflows. You are a proactive problem-solver with a "learn-it-all" mindset and the empathy required to work sensitively with our diverse community. If you have experience in the NFP sector, that’s a bonus—but a passion for our mission is essential!

Why Join Orange Sky?

At Orange Sky, we want every person to be "Better for Being Orange". That is every one of our volunteers, friends, and supporters, all while working together towards delivering our mission of "Positively Connecting Communities". You not only get to work with an outstanding bunch of high-performing people, but you're supported to continue your own personal growth and development in an inclusive and flexible environment, with benefits including:

  • A supportive, purpose-driven team that knows how to have fun
  • An attractive and fair remuneration with salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax-free per year
  • A paid-out rewards scheme, additional gifted leave days, and performance perks
  • Flexible work-from-home approach
  • Personal growth opportunities through our ‘My Career Pathway’
  • Professional development fund (both formal and informal learning opportunities)
  • Fitness Passport memberships on offer for you and your family to help support a healthy lifestyle
  • 6–12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers and 1 week for secondary caregivers, including superannuation in addition to the 18 weeks’ paid parental leave from the government, plus support for parents returning to work
  • Orange Sky Australia has been recognised as an Inclusive Employer through DCA (Diversity Council Australia)
  • Dog-friendly offices—bring your (furry) best mate with you to work
  • Additional leave, including Orange Sky public holidays and gifted leave for high performance
  • Wellness initiatives and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • And the warm fuzzies that come from doing something that really matters
  • We are committed to facilitating a barrier-free recruitment process and work environment. If you require any accommodations, we welcome you to let us know so we can work with you to participate fully in our recruitment experience.
