Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 290 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing coaching, recruiting and administrative assistance to the Head Softball Coach. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5 years of playing and/or working experience within a collegiate Division I or professional softball programs.
• Experience coaching Division I student-athletes at the pitching position with a successful program.
• Knowledge of recruitment process for Division I softball student-athletes.

Professional Competencies

• Ability to promote and enhance diversity.
• Knowledge and experience with NCAA compliance rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, coaches, student-athletes, athletic department constituents, and athletic department personnel.
• Professional presentation and demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with an elite team as a player or coach (i.e. National Team, Professional, DI Athletics - Power 5 Conference).
• Experience recruiting student-athletes.
• Experience as a successful college or professional softball coach
• Ability to throw batting practice.
• Extensive national recruiting network/contacts
