VSI, a nationally recognized leader in spine care and the leading spine practice in the Washington, D.C., metro area, is expanding to add a Recovery Coordinator to serve as the linchpin of our concierge-style patient experience and our innovative Recovery Revolution™ program. This role is central to facilitating each patient’s comprehensive treatment and recovery journey, ensuring a seamless, personalized, and highly coordinated experience from surgery through recovery. As a key ambassador of the VSI brand promise, the Surgical Recovery Coordinator partners closely with patients, doctors, and the ancillary medical team to align every aspect of recovery, including physical therapy, follow-up appointments, recovery resources, and ongoing support, to deliver the elevated level of service, communication, and outcomes that define the VSI experience.
This is a full-time position working in our Reston center. The position offers competitive pay, full benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, and three weeks of paid time off.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of post-operative recovery care for patients, including scheduling and coordinating physical therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), aquatic therapy, and recovery modalities.
- Confidently educate and guide patients through VSI’s comprehensive recovery approach, effectively communicating the value of enhanced therapies, elevated recovery standards, and concierge-level support services that differentiate the VSI patient experience.
- Serve as the primary liaison between patients, doctors, therapists, and external providers to ensure continuity of care and timely execution of recovery plans.
- Verify insurance benefits and clearly communicate coverage details and patient financial responsibility in coordination with billing and administrative teams.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical scheduling team to support clearance management, ensuring all required documentation and testing are completed before surgery.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Experience in patient advocacy, healthcare coordination, customer service, hospitality, or consultative sales environments preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Ability to build rapport quickly, motivate patient engagement, and confidently communicate the value of recovery services and treatment recommendations
- Able to utilize creative problem-solving skills when confronted with difficult situations
- Friendly, respectful , and cooperative with co-workers; a team player
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Exhibits empathy and compassion toward patients; driven to go well beyond what is ‘expected’
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; concierge phone etiquette
